My Favs and Flops for September ’24

I can’t believe we are already in October and this year is almost over, time flies! September was a fun and busy month, which tends to be the norm now. Every weekend is booked with activities and every weekday is about work and getting things done around the house. I had some great times with friends and took plenty of time to relax and watch TV. So, let’s get into my favs and flops from this month:

  • The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives – Everyone’s latest obsession dropped on Hulu and I ate it up! I knew I was going to watch this show after the teaser that dropped during the Bachelorette Men Tell All. Did anyone else see Hakeem during that segment?? I felt the same way! One of my favorite things about the show was, although it focuses on MomTok and this group of moms, it doesn’t really show the children. I’m not a fan of reality shows with kids, it tends to feel at least a little exploitive. Full disclosure, I have already watched this show through twice. I just felt like I needed to rewatch because I didn’t catch everything the first time around. Watching reality shows is a great way for me to relax, I like watching other people’s drama unfold while I yell at the tv how they are doing everything wrong. I honestly like the whole group, even Whitney. I don’t agree with her all the time but if she wasn’t there, where would the drama be?
  • Selling Sunset Season 8 – I went into this season very interested in how the Bre and Chelsea drama was going to go down. I’ve been a fan of Selling Sunset since 2020, when we were all trying to find something to watch during quarantine. I think my favorite character is Chrishell but gosh do I miss Christine! I like how it’s seemed like Chrishell and Nicole squashed their beef, their fighting over the same thing was getting old. But Nicole, continuing to try and bring up a rumor she heard about Emma was crossing the line. I didn’t like her before but continued to keep my mind open, now I’m really not a fan. But I am VERY excited to see how this drama plays out on the next season!
  • New Nightstand – I had planned on getting a new nightstand at the beginning of the year but didn’t pull the trigger until now. Originally I wanted to get matching nightstands with my husband and I had some saved on Wayfair but because it took me 9 months, my mind changed a lot. Eventually I decided on a small dresser from Ikea, specifically the Songesand 3-drawer chest. I switched out the hardware to make it even chicer, I did a poll on Instagram to see which looked better and 100% chose the upgrade. You can see in the first 2 pictures above, the black rounded handles it came with vs. the gold ones, purchased from amazon, that I replaced them with.
  • Scream Phone Case – As the Fall season creeps in, I decided it was time for a phone case to match. I got one at TJ Maxx/Homegoods but failed to realize there was a big permanent popsocket on the back so I chose to look at Amazon. I stumbled upon a pink (not Fall themed) Scream/Ghostface (very Fall themed) phone case with Scream on the phone. It reminds me of this funny meme I’ve seen where Scream is on the phone saying “No you hang up first.” It’s super cute and I’ve already received several compliments on it.
  • Lemon Drinks – My new obsessions: The San Pellegrino Zero drinks, specifically the Lemonade flavor, and the new Limoncello spritz from Loverboy. The San Pellegrino drink tastes like the lemonade I used to order in Italy, very limoncello like. Both drinks are light, refreshing, and the perfect amount of lemon and carbonation. These are very summery drinks but I will be enjoying them throughout the year.
  • Puppy Prep – This month I went to our local Humane Society’s adoption event and adopted a beautiful beagle puppy. He wasn’t ready to come home right away so I had some time to prep before he arrived. I purchased so many new toys and products for our little guy so he’d have everything he needed. To see pictures and links for everything I purchased you can check out my Aesthetic Puppy Products post here.
  • Flop – Giant canvas from Michaels – I have a flop this month! It’s honestly a fav and a flop because I purchased a $99 4’x5′ canvas for $35. That’s a huge savings and I’ve been looking to purchase a large canvas so it all lined up perfectly… almost. Turns out I can’t fit a 4’x5′ canvas in my hatchback vehicle. I spent a couple of minutes attempting to get it to fit but realized very quickly, I was in trouble. I ended up calling my husband to bring his Rav4 down to Michael’s so I could put it in his car… unfortunately his car was also too small. Thankfully we had friends with a truck coming over later that day and they kindly met me at Michaels before coming to our house to get the canvas transported successfully. Thank goodness for great friends!
  • The Golden Bachelorette – It’s back! I didn’t plan on watching the Golden Bachelor/Bachelorette series but I ended up giving in and really enjoyed to first season. The Golden Bachelorette brings back all the things we loved about the Golden Bachelor, including a great group of older adults looking for love again. The men competing to win Joan’s heart are as good as they get! I love how genuine the people are and how much they care about each other, not just the person who’s love they’re competing for. I love Charles and Gary!
  • Avenue East Cobb (Marietta, GA) – The Avenue is not new to me, I used to go during my lunch hour when I worked near there, but I haven’t been back in a while. We got together with friends recently at the Round Trip Brewing Company and Peach State Pizza. Round Trip Brewing is a German style brewery with a German food menu as well. I wish I could tell you that the food was amazing, but we didn’t order any, which is a big reason on why I plan to return. I don’t like beer but my husband enjoyed it. I had their sangria seltzer, which was pretty good. At Peach State Pizza I tried the City In A Forest signature cocktail. It was so crisp and refreshing! It included Ketel One Botanical Vodka, Elderflower, Cucumber Tonic, and Lemon. The place smelled like good pizza, it was mouthwatering. If the food at either place is as good as the drinks, then I might have a new favorite place.

That’s it for my September favs and flops. In October I’ll be heading to Boston for the first time, bringing home the puppy, and celebrating Halloween. There’s also a bunch of shows starting and releasing so I expect to have a nice big list of favs and flops (but mostly favs) for you next month. Until then, what are your thoughts on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives? What do you think of my nightstand upgrade?
