The Importance of Caring for Your Skin

I am obsessed with taking care of my face, I’m working on skincare for the rest of my body right now. I failed to realize the whole body is covered in skin that is also in need of proper care. I’ve finally started to moisturize from the neck now daily. Whole body skincare is important, I remind myself. The skin is an organ and it needs proper nutrients just like the rest of the body. Nurturing your skin is even more important when you’re on a plane with DRY air circulating about the plane.

So how can you avoid coming off the plane with skin drier than a desert? Pack the essentials in your carry-on of course. I like to cover all my bases when it comes to skincare… and travel; I have a need to be prepared, always. You may not need everything on the list, like a face mask or facial spray, because everyone’s skin is different. I have dry/combination skin so I prefer to have a lot of hydrating products on hand.

TSA Approved Carry-On Skincare Products

Most of these products end up in my liquids bag so having a travel size available is essential to me. If I’m traveling with Sam I can throw stuff in his liquids bag but if it’s just me, I need to be calculated in my packing. It’s kind of like a game of Tetris and lucky for me, that was 1 of 2 games I played on my Gameboy Color as a kid.

Here are the 8 skincare items I NEED to travel with:

  • Lano Face Mask– This face mask is perfect for airplane travel. Not only does is it available in a travel size, perfect for your carry-on, but it is also super moisturizing. A moisturizing mask is exactly what your skin needs because of the very dry air on the plane.
  • Mario Rose Water Facial Spray– Facial spray is perfect for a quick reset to your makeup and to freshen up your skin. The rose scent is my favorite but they have a few options if you’re not into rose.
  • Facial cleansing and makeup remover wipes- Typically you don’t want to use a cleansing wipe, because it’s best to wash your face with water and a face wash, but in this case it’s helpful to have this on handy in case you don’t have access to a sink and running water. And bonus, it won’t take up space in your liquids bag. Use the makeup remover wipe before the cleansing wipe, if needed.
  • Clinique Moisture Surge Moisturizer– Like I said above the air on a plane is very dry and your skin will be in need of a drink and nothing is better than Clinique’s moisture surge moisturizer. Purchase the travel size for taking up less space in your liquids bag.
  • Face wash-Travel Size CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser– When you do have access to running water and a sink, this is the best face wash for traveling and for at home. It’s great and so are most of CeraVe’s products.
  • Eye cream- Clinique Pep Start Eye Cream– The eyes are the nipples of the face. At least, that’s what The House Bunny taught me. But seriously, the eye area is so sensitive and it’s so important to care for it properly. Eye cream is essential and pep start helps with any jet lag under-eye bags you might have plus the sample sizes I have are perfect for travel.
  • Hand cream– Listed as the 25th item on my post, 25 Items You Need to Survive A Long Flight, because it’s a must. Using hand sanitizer or washing your hands, as often as you should be when traveling, is tough on your skin and it’s important to lock in moisturizer.
  • Body Lotion– Especially if it’s warmer and you’re arms and/or legs are bare. It’s a good idea to moisturize before you hop on the plane and lotion up during flight if needed.

There you have the 8 skincare items I must have when flying. Did I miss anything? Let me know in the comments what skincare products you can’t live without when traveling.
